Jin started skating at age 7 after watching a figure skating competition. He looks up to Olympic Champions Alexei Yagudin, Evgeni Plushenko and Yuzuru Hanyu. Jin is the first skater to perform a quadruple Lutz-triple toeloop combination in ISU competition (Grand Prix Cup of China 2015). He has relocated for training to Canada in 2022. Coach Brian Orser (CAN) is the 1984 and 1988 Olympic silver medalist.
